What is general dentistry?
General dentistry involves the most common dental care solutions, which may include the following treatments:
- Cleanings – cleaning the teeth removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria that can contribute to conditions such as decay and disease.
- Examinations – looking for signs of decay and disease is important during visits to the dental chair to ensure there is nothing putting your oral health at risk.
- Fillings – when conditions such as dental decay are observed, it is best to get the areas treated as soon as possible with tooth-colored fillings after disinfection of the inner tooth.
- Periodontal care – if periodontal disease occurs, treatment is necessary. It may include simple cleanings or more invasive treatments such as scaling and root planing.
- Sealants/fluoride – there are time when the teeth need extra protection, and this is when the application of sealants and fluorides are recommended.
- Education – patients may not be taking care of their teeth in the proper manner, so our dentists will provide education to teach patients about the basics of oral health care at home.
- Pediatric care – in addition, many of our patients who are parents are encouraged to bring their children in for dental care as well, since we offer pediatric care for even the youngest of patients in the same facility!
