What is nitrous oxide sedation?
NOS, or “laughing gas,” is a sedation method best used for patients who have mild to moderate dental anxieties. Our professionals can administer this specialized odorless and colorless gas to patients through a special nose piece. Patients will almost instantaneously feel relaxed and at ease, allowing our team of professionals to complete the needed services. Nitrous oxide sedation can be used for a variety of treatments, including simple examinations to extensive restorative work. Patients just need to ask about integrating this sedation into their next service.
How long does nitrous oxide work?
Unlike other methods of sedation which only work for a specific period of time, nitrous oxide sedation will keep patients sedated as long as necessary. Our dental staff will monitor the patient throughout their treatment to ensure they are comfortable, and the gas can be administered continuously until the procedure is over. In order to reverse the effects of sedation, our team will change the nitrous oxide over to oxygen. Within minutes, patients are able to get up from the dental chair and go about their day as the gas is officially out of their system. Patients do not need to arrange transportation for their appointment if they choose NOS.
